Markaz Convocation Conference Concludes; Degrees Awarded to 548 Saquafi Scholars and 82 Huffaz

Calicut: The Markaz Convocation Conference concluded with grandeur, attended by thousands of participants. At the ceremony, degrees were conferred upon 548 Saquafi scholars who completed their studies at Jamia Markaz, along with 82 Huffaz who memorized the Holy Qur’an. The graduates hailed from 18 states across India.

The conference was inaugurated by Sayyid Ali Al Hashimi, Religious Adviser to the President of the United Arab Emirates and a renowned Islamic scholar. The Grand Mufti of India and Founder of Markaz, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, led the Khatmul Bukhari.

Addressing the gathering, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad emphasized that a peaceful social environment is essential for the progress of any society and stated that divisive narratives have no place in a democratic and secular nation. Stressing the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution, he called for ensuring that no citizen is unjustly excluded under the NRC and urged governments to refrain from actions that destabilize global politics, advocating the use of India’s diplomatic influence to promote peace.

The convocation session, which began at 5:00 pm, opened with a prayer led by Markaz President Sayyid Ali Bafaqi. The session was presided over by Samastha Kerala Jam’iyyathul Ulama President E. Sulaiman Musliyar, while Kerala Muslim Jamaath General Secretary Sayyid Ibrahimul Khalil Al Bukhari delivered the keynote message.

Jamia Markaz Chancellor C. Muhammed Faizi presented the Chancellor’s Message, and Rector Dr. Mohammed Abdul Hakeem Azhari delivered the Visionary Talk. The inauguration of the distribution of ₹50 crore worth of social welfare projects, implemented as part of Markaz’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, was officiated by Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad. Sayyid Mohammed Mehdi Mia Chishti from the Ajmer Dargah attended the event as the Chief Guest.

From 9:00 am onwards, various programs including the Scholars’ Conference, Young Entrepreneurs’ Conclave, Saquafi Representatives’ Meet, Pravasi Sabha, and the Takaful Meet were held.

Dignitaries present included Minister for Industries and Law P. Rajeev, former Goa Governor Adv. P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, former MP K. Muraleedharan, Pro Chancellor of Jamia Markaz and Chairman of the State Hajj Committee Dr. Hussain Muhammed Saquafi, Abdul Jaleel Saquafi Cherushola, Kerala Startup Mission Project Director Sajith Kumar, and Malappuram Cooperative Spinning Mill Chairman P. Mohammed Yusuf.
